An iconic Charlotte bakery will add a sixth location to its lineup this weekend.
Amelie’s French Bakery will debut its latest cafe in the Backlot at Park Road Shopping Center on Saturday, July 22. Doors open at 7 a.m.
Amelie’s joins the shopping center at a peak in new development, including a string of recent Backlot openings like CorePower Yoga, Midwood Smokehouse and Dot Dot Dot.
True to the brand, Amelie’s Park Road features blue striped walls, eclectic thrifted decor and the same French pastries you know and love from the original in NoDa.
The tally for their famous salted caramel brownies is somewhere around 1.4 million served since 2014. It’s ok if you ate most of them yourself.
One major standout feature at Park Road is its sizable front patio.
Most of the other locations have pretty limited bistro seating outside, if at all. It’ll be great once the heat subsides.
If you’re new to Amelie’s, here are a few quick things to know:
- Order at the counter, grab a number and find a seat at one of the funky tables
- Although you’ll be blinded by the beautiful pastry case, don’t overlook the savory goods too, including killer soups, salads and tartines (a French open-faced sandwich)
- The salted caramel brownie is as good as everyone says
- The five other locations are NoDa (the original), Uptown, Carmel Commons, Rock Hill and Atlanta

Amelie’s Park Road is located at 4321 Park Road. It’ll be open Sunday – Thursday 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday – Saturday 7 a.m. to midnight.
