Instagram feeds that feature foods right out of a minimalist’s perfect world with their muted colors and bright backgrounds are having a moment, and these five Charlotte bakeries get it.
Amélie’s French Bakery & Café
The French bakery is a staple everywhere from Rock Hill to Atlanta, and they’re soon opening a new location in the Park Road Shopping Center’s Backlot. Their macarons have made the big-screen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, but don’t sleep on the éclairs or chocolate croissant.
Craft Cakes CLT
The self-described, online-only “micro-cake shop” specializes in buttercream and uses little to no refined sugar, instead offering vegan-friendly cakes using local ingredients and made-from-scratch garnishes that change with the seasons. The menu currently includes coconut, carrot and caramel mud cakes and fillings like rhubarb, strawberry and peanut butter + chocolate chip cookie dough. Holy moly. Follow (1,500+ followers).
Joe’s Doughs
NoDa’s go-to for handmade artisanal donuts has a menu that rotates every 45-60 minutes, and their Instagram is never short of flavors that will make jaws drop. Follow (10,200+ followers).

The from-scratch, dessert-focused bakery has been in business over 20 years and offers everything from custom cakes, doughnuts and cookies to that Texas Doughnut Cake. Follow (9,400+ followers).
