A new coffee bar opened last week next to Red Clay Cider.
It’s called South End Grind and it’s part of Urban MVMNT, a large fitness center home to CrossFit SouthEnd, Charlotte’s Best Boot Camp and Ride or Die Spin.
South End Grind occupies the front of the building with counter seating inside and bistro tables on the patio.
The menu includes drip, espresso, cold brew and Aeropress coffee, as well as inventive seasonal features.
Summer seasonal features include the Gym and Tonic (espresso, tonic, honey lemon syrup and mint over ice) and the Summer Storm (BBA espresso, ginger beer, molasses, simple syrup and lime over ice).
Here’s the full menu.
Owner and Seattle native Freddie Nordhoff has long been a coffee drinker but really fell in love with the craft after visiting an organic coffee farm on a hike to Machu Picchu.
Now that he has his own shop, Nordhoff is eager to spotlight great local roasters. He’s currently sourcing his beans from Charlotte-based Pure Intentions Coffee.
South End Grind is open weekdays 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
You’ll find it at 255 Clanton Road, Charlotte NC 28217.
