The land is all ready for a new park between South End and Wilmore. Now all it needs is the money.

Mecklenburg County has master-planned a $1 million park at South Tryon and Kingston to be called Wilmore Centennial Park. It is expected to have a sprawling green lawn, an arbor with seating overlooking the skyline, skate areas shade and a dog park.

This is the land that was originally going to the home to Food Truck Friday before it found a home at Sycamore Brewing.

Money to build the 1-acre park is in the county’s parks $277 million bond plan for 2019-2023. The county commissioners are currently debating whether to support the full proposal and put in on the ballot in November.
