Local restaurateur Jim Noble will open his first restaurant dedicated to barbecue sometime in 2018.
Noble Smoke will be the sixth restaurant in the Noble Food & Pursuits family, joining The King’s Kitchen, The King’s Bakery and three Rooster’s locations (two in Charlotte and one in Winston-Salem).
“With Noble Smoke I seek to honor barbecue legends that came before us who not only did it right but did it well,” Noble wrote in a blog post introducing the new venture last year. A location for the restaurant hasn’t yet been announced.

In the meantime, Noble is taking the concept on the road with exclusive Noble Smoke preview catering packages prepared on two mobile smokers named after his aunts — Flossie and Beulah.
The aptly named Mobile Smoke will deliver a “heartfelt Southern barbecue” to your private event featuring food that’s prepared on site and served up family style.
Noble’s legendary Beulah smoker measures more than 25 feet long and can accommodate 50 to 60 pork butts that produce more than 600 pounds of barbecue.

Mobile Smoke catering packages are priced at $20 per person with an $1,800 food minimum.
So I hope you and about 90 of your friends are hungry. Each $20 plate includes 8 oz of protein and 8 oz of sides, and you can check out the full menu to plot your plate strategy here.
If you have a party of fewer than 90 guests, you can reach the $1,800 food minimum by adding larger servings, additional sides and drinks.
