Warmer weather means it’s time to lace up your running sneakers and sign up for a 5K — or more.

These spring races will motivate you to get back in the training rhythm. Many also serve as fundraisers for a good cause.

Catch me at the Sarcoma Stomp in late April. It’s my first race post-baby, and I’ll be bringing her along for the ride.

Note: These are all races in Charlotte proper.

Charlotte Brain Tumor Race

Date: April 1 — 10K starts at 9:15 a.m. and 5K starts at 9:30 a.m.
Location: Romare Bearden Park
Details: The run raises money for cancer research. This year’s goal is $150,000.

Cookies for Kids Cancer 5K

Date: April 1 at 9:30 a.m.
Location: Corner of Hardwick and Chillingworth roads in Randolph Park neighborhood (near Cotswold)
Details: Raises money for pediatric cancer research. A bake sale is held in conjunction with the race.

CMPD Sexual Assault Awareness 5K

Date: April 1 – run starts at 10:15 a.m.
Location: Greenville Recreation Center – 1330 Spring St.
Details: Activities include a 5K and zumba class.

Charlotte Race Fest

Date: April 8 at 7:30 a.m.
Location: SouthPark mall (start line is corner of Morrison and Barclays Down)
Details: This classic spring race in Charlotte’s Foxcroft and South Park neighborhood offers a 10K and half marathon option. Be prepared for hills.

D.R. Fitness Race for a Cause

Date: April 8 at 8 a.m.
Location: McAlpine Creek Park – 8711 Monroe Road
Details: Proceeds benefit local nonprofit The Sandbox, which supports children with rare or life-changing illnesses.

Queen City Trail Run 5K

Date: April 8 at 9 a.m.
Location: Reedy Creek Park
Details: Go offroading. Proceeds benefit community missions of Eastside Church. A fun run is also offered at 10 a.m.

FreeMoreWest 5K

Date: April 14 at 6 p.m.
Location: Greenway near Cycles & Yoga For Life (1410 W Morehead St.)
Details: Enjoy this night race on the greenway. There are also limited spots to RSVP for a yoga class beforehand.

CPCC Skyline Run

Date: April 22. Fun run starts at 7:30 a.m. and 5K starts at 8 a.m.
Location: CPCC Central Campus – 1206 Elizabeth Ave.
Details: The race through the Elizabeth neighborhood includes a one-mile fun run and a baby jogger championship. Proceeds benefit scholarships for Central Piedmont Community College students.

Pure Religion 5K

Date: April 22 at 9 a.m.
Location: Central Church – 5301 Sardis Road
Details: Funds benefit groups working to eradicate human trafficking.

Tuck Fest Trail Races

Date: April 21-23 (times vary, but twilight 5K is 7:30 p.m. Friday and half marathon is Saturday at 8 a.m.)
Location: U.S. National Whitewater Center
Details: Run the trails as part of the Tuck Fest celebration. Events include a twilight 5K, a half marathon and a quarter marathon, as well as a youth trail race.

Water for People 5K

Date: April 29 at 9 a.m.
Location: Little Sugar Creek Greenway (1111 Metropolitan Ave.)
Details: Proceeds benefit the nonprofit Water for People, which aims to provide clean water in Asia, Africa and South America.

Miles Against Melanoma 5K

Date: April 29 at 8 a.m.
Location: Arboretum Shopping Center (Omega Sports)
Details: Raises money to benefit the Carolina’s Melanoma and Immunotherapy Fund at Carolina HealthCare System’s Levine Cancer Institute.

Sarcoma Stomp

Date: April 29 at 8 a.m.
Location: Christ Lutheran Church – 4519 Providence Road
Details: Raises money to benefit Levine Cancer Institute, helping to fund Levine’s sarcoma clinical trials and other sarcoma research projects.

401K Race for Financial Fitness

Date: May 6 at 8 a.m.
Location: 1221 The Plaza
Details: A new race this spring that aims to improve family’s financial literacy and benefit Junior Achievement, a nonprofit that seeks to prepare students for a global economy.

University City Duathlon

Date: May 6 at 8 a.m.
Location: 10101 David Taylor Drive University Research Park
Details: A bike-run combo race that also includes a 5K race and kids sprint.

Right Moves for Youth Twilight 5K

Date: May 12 at 7 p.m.
Location: Wells Fargo Atrium – 310 S. Tryon St.
Details: Benefits the Right Moves for Youth program that targets at-risk students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools who are in danger of dropping out.

The Park Domestic Violence Awareness Run/Walk

Date: May 20 at 8 a.m.
Location: 808 Briar Creek Road
Details: Proceeds benefit Safe Alliance, the Jamie Kimble Foundation for Courage and other educational prevention and victim services programs.

Charlotte LUNGe Forward 5K

Date: May 20 at 7 a.m.
Location: Park Road Park
Details: Proceeds benefit the Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina

Run! Ballantyne

Date: May 20 at 7:30 a.m.
Location: Sara’s YMCA – 15940 Brixham Hill Ave.
Details: Run Ballantyne Corporate Park in a 8K or 5K. Proceeds benefit YMCA after school and summer camp programs.
