Invitation

UNC Charlotte’s Alumni Association will be throwing their fourth annual Green Tie Gala at the Hilton Charlotte Center City this year, and all of Charlotte is invited. The night will feature a musical performance from Live Exchange Party Band, back by popular request following their performance last year.

After last year’s fantastic Speakeasy event, this year’s theme is Havana Nights, so find a fedora and your dancing shoes so you can immerse yourself in the Cuban culture. Here’s the best part: The proceeds from this night on the town go to UNC Charlotte student scholarships for current and future Niners, so join UNC Charlotte alumni, friends and fans for a night of live music, good food, great people, and an incredible cause.

The night will also feature a “Mystery Box” auction, where guests can pay $49 for a box, but the contents are a secret. In the past, the gifts in the mystery boxes have ranged from $50-$800 in value, so you could be walking away with some seriously cool prizes.

Agenda pro tip

Check out the attire guidelines for inspiration and ideas on how to really pull off the Havana vibe. Guys: think white or tan linen suits, brightly-colored dress shirts, vests, and of course, a fedora or Panama hat. Ladies: try brightly colored 1950s dresses, floral patterns, flowers in your hair, or a dress or skirt that will twirl while you spin to the music.
