When Bob Nelson, the man in charge of construction of Ascent Uptown, looks at the building, he sees something different.
“Look over there,” he says. “Big beige box. And there — big beige box. And over there — big beige box. But this… this is sexy. It’s got curves. Do you know what I mean?”

The building clocks in at 33 stories, the bottom 11 being a parking deck, and includes almost 4,000 square feet of retail space.
The rest of the floors will be made up of 300 studio, one- and two-bedroom units, over 200 of which have balconies and views of Romare Bearden Park, both stadiums and most of Uptown’s buildings.
Nelson would go on to call Ascent a “badass” building, and he’s right.
Amenities include a heated saltwater pool on the roof, penthouse lounge with a bar, a rooftop fitness center with a cool-down room that sits at a comfortable 65 degrees and wine on tap in the foyer.
Construction is expected to finish in July. Until then, take a look at how it’s coming and what it will end up being:
The building will offer 15 different studio, one- and two-bedroom floor plans that range in size from 472 to 1,384 square feet and in price from $1,470 to $4,085.
Each unit will come complete with a Nest system, wall outlets that include USB charging ports and key fob entry.
