What does a $25 million real estate investment get you? A downright sexy, 42-room hotel that depending on the execution and service may compete with the Ritz Carlton as the No. 1 hotel in Charlotte.

Say hello to The Ivey’s Hotel. It’ll open at the end of March.

Expect rates to be comparable to the Ritz Carlton.

Within the next few months, Uptown Charlotte will have a “Big Four” of fancy hotels – Ritz Carlton, Marriott Center City, Kimpton (under construction) and The Ivey’s Hotel.

The Ivey’s Hotel looks like the type of hotel you’d create if money weren’t an issue.

“All of the design is unique to The Ivey’s Hotel,” said Janal Montagna, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing, told the Agenda. “Each piece of furniture is custom crafted with a European flair. We incorporate a lot of repurposed items into the rooms including Parisian-inspired artwork with collages of antique clock faces, actual early 1900s French magazine and newspaper clippings set into frames and 400-year-old oak wood floors sourced from a winery in France.”

The hotel’s lobby will be on the ground floor off of Tryon Street. Hotel guests will have a separate elevator and staircase they can take to the hotel, which is only on the second floor of the Ivey’s building (the rest of the building will remain condos at this time).

The hotel will offer 42 guest rooms, including 9 suites.

I’ll be booking the Balcony Suite – an 800-square-foot room with additional living area and private walkout balcony overlooking 5th and Tryon where I’ll heckle partiers heading to Connolly’s late night while retreating back into my life of luxury.

Room amenities include: Frette Italian bedding and linens, Nespresso coffee machines, fully stocked wet bar, Dean & DeLuca snacks, 55”- 65” flatscreens with Bose sound bars, iHome docking stations and European style soaking or claw foot tubs (in most rooms).

For fitness people, there’ll be 24-hour access to a brand new 1,500-square-foot fitness center, offering state of the art exercise equipment including Cybex treadmills, Octane XT Ellipticals, and Hoist Strength machines.

For events, The Ivey’s Hotel will have a dedicated event specialists that can create all sorts of fancy event setups with a flexible 4,500 square feet of event space including a 1,000 square foot meeting room on the first floor that can be used for executive board meetings and as well as a larger atrium space that will be perfect for more social events.

The Ivey’s Hotel will have two dining options.

The Ivey’s Library Lounge will be located on the second floor and exclusive to guests. There’ll be breakfast with freshly baked pastries and bakery items, all-day refreshments including organic local coffee and Rishi Tea and evening reception with wines, regional beers and savory snacks. Don’t forget, guests only – unless you sneak in.

The Ivey’s Hotel will also have a bar and lounge (name TBD) located off 5th Street. It’ll be an upscale atmosphere with custom cocktails, select wine and beer. The Agenda will report more on this concept closer to launch.
