This is part of an ongoing series titled How I Work, a look into how Charlotte gets things done at work.
Let’s explore the work life of Brandon Cullen, CEO of MADabolic Inc.
2610 South Blvd
Charlotte NC 28209
I only have to commute about 2 miles a day. When the weather permits, I try to ride my bike a couple of days per week. This year, my family and I are building a home across the street from our flagship facility (this is where my office also sits). When completed, I plan to walk to work daily. It is a simple life pleasure I cannot wait for.
iPhone with a picture of me and my son ‘Grayson’ on the beach on the home screen.
2 pictures – one of the whole family laughing together and the other is my all time favorite picture of my son and I walking in Uptown Charlotte at Latta Arcade.
Gadgets you can’t live without:
Do you listen to music while you work?
100%. Spotify is my main source.
What software are you a power user of?
Lately, Cisco WebEx has really helped streamline our business focusing on consistency from location to location.
What’s your favorite spot for a business lunch? Your order?
Crisp (I eat there for lunch 4-5 days per week). I build my own salad with blacken chicken, mixed greens, cranberries, tomatoes, red peppers, olives, almonds and olive oil and balsamic vinegar tossed in.
Social media habits:
I use twitter to plant information and content everywhere. For me, it is the easiest vessel to populate all of my social platforms which also included Facebook, Instagram and Spotify. I find this to be the most productive way to look very active on social media without becoming a slave to it.
To-do list manager:
Wunderlist. Just discovered it last year and love it.
What everyday thing are you really good at?
Spotting trends before they actually catch fire.
Best time-saving shortcut or Charlotte life hack:
Living in the greater uptown area. If you are a social person this is where all the action is. The only real traffic in this city is actually not in the city.
I shoot for 8 hours every night.
Where do you go around Charlotte to get away from the office?
What did you eat for breakfast this morning?
4 eggs scrambled, a bowl of steel cut oats with almond butter mixed in it, 16oz of water, 1 teaspoon of fish oil & a pour over (coffee).
What’s the last book you read and why?
What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast by Laura Vanderkam. Why? The title was intriguing more than anything. Plus, I love productivity books and concepts.
If you weren’t doing your current job, what would you be doing?
I believe I’m doing exactly what I should be doing right now and when I can no longer say this, I’ll start to think about what else I could be doing.
