Something about an all shots bar in a brewery town should’ve had us doubting the Chupitos concept from the start.
How do you go about suggesting to a date that you meet at the shot bar? Are we Daytona Beach enough for this? Would shots become the next victim of the “craft” movement with hipsters in suspenders creating elaborate local organic grass-fed concoctions to be sipped and painstakingly analyzed? Most importantly, against my better judgement, couldn’t I get a shot anywhere?
Repeatedly stalled progress on the project suggested we may never find out. And Ted’s favorite joke about my raging social life (“What are you doing tonight? Slamming shots at Chupitos?”) might never see the light of day.
After dragging along for two years, any hope for Charlotte’s first shot bar was squashed when the owner pleaded guilty to a $3 million investment fraud scheme last year.
New ownership took over the 2,200-square-foot building in May of 2016 and now they’ve got a new shots-optional tenant to bring it to life.
Graham St. Pub & Patio, a chill neighborhood bar with a rooftop patio, will occupy the prime location on the block between BB&T Ballpark and Bank of America Stadium (cover image rendering via Cluck Design).
Even without its own parking, Graham St. Pub will command a strong flow of foot traffic from sports fans as well as from the residents of surrounding apartment buildings that popped up over the last two years.
Graham Street Pub will serve lunch and dinner and they plan to add a weekend brunch in the future.
The menu is food truck inspired with a selection of sliders, skewers, grilled cheeses tacos and more. Look for inventive items with international influences like chicken keema sliders, banh mi sliders and chicken & waffle skewers.
