Construction is coming along nicely for Topgolf’s first Charlotte location and should wrap up in time for an early 2017 opening.
The 14-acre site is just off of I-485 at Whitehall Corporate Center in Steele Creek. Once complete, the $4.4 million dollar center will feature over 100 climate-controlled driving bays along with 3,000 feet of private event space.
If you’re not a golfer, don’t worry – Topgolf isn’t your grandfather’s game. Topgolf is your grandfather’s millennial, too tech-savvy for words grandkid’s game.
Instead of hitting balls at a traditional driving range, players of all skill levels hit balls equipped with microchips toward targets in the outfield. Each shot is tracked and players are given real-time data on accuracy and distance along with the points each shot has earned them.
Topgolf games include TopGolf (scores are determined by distance and accuracy), TopPressure (hit all nine sections in one target) and TopShot (hitting targets at four consecutive distances). See all eight here.
Here’s a look at what we can expect the space to look like after completion:

The complex will also include wifi, over 200 televisions, a rooftop terrace, food and a full bar.
The menu includes items like flatbreads, sliders, and shareables like fried pickles that range in price from $6-$13. The bar has 13 signature drinks that include a Topgolf Tea ($9.50), Tipsy Palmer ($8) and Bulleit Old Fashioned ($9). There’s also a full beer and wine menu along with shareable cocktails made for parties of two or more.
