Hello Thursday.

Either I’m becoming an old man or it’s getting hot. Yesterday, I searched for parking spots in the shade. I’ve never been that guy that searches for a shady spot, but I guess I am now. I found a spot under a small tree on Montford and was very proud of myself. Next step to old manhood is to get one of those windshield sun protectors. Anyways.

Today’s Weather: 96. Sunny, 20% chance of rain. Help.
Today’s Stat: $8 million and 32,000 sqft. NoDa Brewing’s new spot that’s under construction.
Today’s Job: Bookkeeper / Office Manager at growth company Payzer. $30k – $50k.Apply.
Today’s Charlottean: Casey Crawford, Co-Founder & CEO of Movement Mortgage, for growing his company from 7 to 2,000 employees and admitting this to MSN: “I actually Googled ‘how to start a mortgage bank.’”

Work life of David Oakley, Creative Director at BooneOakley
Desk is very spartan. Love that he has an iPhone case that doubles as a bottle opener. Learn how Dave works.

Take a walk with me along Charlotte’s Rail Trail
Vision: “Charlotte’s Rail Trail will be a vibrant public park that winds through the heart of downtown. The 4 mile trail will connect neighborhoods from Sedgefield, Southside Park, Brookhill, Dilworth, Wilmore, South End and Uptown. But it will belong to everyone in the Queen City.” Walk it.

The thrill of the hunt: 1 Emporium is full of random stuff you never knew you needed
Go treasure hunt shopping with Katie on Monroe Rd. She finds a handheld disinfecting steamer and a bloomin’ onion maker

Rep 704: Five local fashion brands that scream Charlotte pride
View designs and items from David Gordon, Docklands, Honor Roll Designs, Queen City Gear, 704 Shop. CLT is getting cool.

Charlotte magician to compete at the World Championship of Magic and you can see him this weekend
I was known as “The Great Tedini” in 5th grade, so Collin’s story gets me exited. Charlotte’s “Hannibal” is one of seven magicians invited to FISM (the World Championship of Magic). You can catch his show before he goes at a ‘Pay What You Want’ cost at Upstage. June 19-20 (10pm).

The Weekender: June 19 – 21
19 things to do. Corkbuzz opening to #patiotakeover at ROCKSALT by Unknown Brewing to HerosCon2015 to HEX Coffee popup at Craft to Queen City Jazz Fest to Carolina Care 5K to Charlotte Independence vs Charleston Battery and more.

In defense of the Streetcar: Derailed in public eye thanks to planners, not plan
Is the streetcar silly or is the overall lack of execution on a transportation plan silly? Phil writes an op-ed defending the streetcar and discussing our transportation needs.

Observer defends Cowfish and tells you to go back to their restaurant. Love it.Customers reported flu-like sypmtoms and Cowfish closed twice. But they’re open now and their management did an impressive job at communicating the issues and conservatively closing the joint. Side note: Maybe now is the time for me to get my Bento Box without having to wait for a table.

SouthPark Mall will receive a facelift. WCNC reports that renovations include comfy seating, interior renovations on the columns/walls, a fancier entrance with fountains/LED lighting on Sharon Road, outdoor fireplace and enhanced W-Fi.

Designated airport pick up spots may soon be available for Uber and Lyft.Observer reports that while the city will continue to only allow 3 cab companies to service the airport, they are considering a dispatch spot for Uber, Lyft and other ride services.

Have a solid Thursday and congratulations to the Charlotte Independence for taking down the New England Revolution in last night’s soccer match (1-0 on a beautiful goal). Zach from said it best “Tonight was a huge moment in Independence history.”
