Uptown lunch goers are losing their mind in excitement for toasty warm sandwiches at Potbelly.

Potbelly Sandwich Shop is currently under construction and targeting a mid-December grand opening.

Prior to opening to the public, Potbelly does an “Oven Warming” party where they give away free food with the expectation that patrons donate $5+ to a designated local charity (has yet to be decided for this opening).

The exact address is 320 S. Tryon Street — the spot that Salsarita’s previously occupied near Latta Arcade.

The interior will have Charlotte flair.

“A lot of Uptown will be represented in the shop,” said franchisee Shak Patel. Shak plans to open multiple Potbelly locations in the Charlotte area.

Patel attended Winthrop University (graduating in 2006) and has been in the restaurant industry since. He most recently worked as a franchise business consultant for Salsarita’s.

Expect Potbelly to be open for both lunch and dinner.

To combat lines, he said the staff will walk around taking orders via iPad to speed things through.

Patel also expects Potbelly to be open beyond the 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. time slot. He said all the apartments being built in Third Ward should support the longer hours. A sandwich + chips should cost about $7. Salads will run about $8.

You can tell from the Agenda Instagram Potbelly love that this sandwich shop will be a hit.

Soon-ish, Uptown. Soon-ish.
