So long as the permits are approved Wednesday, the Gold District is getting a new addition.
Artifact Public, created in Asheville in 2013, will move into the space at 1510 Mint Street, which they’re planning to renovate.
Material has already been bought and construction crews are hired and are just waiting for the signal.
The shop will feature two different brands, Artifact Public and BAC (which stands for Believe + Achieve + Conquer) that cater to two different needs.
Owner Albert Anderson describes the clothes from Artifact Public will as being an “everyday leisurewear” line that features denim, t-shirts, sweatshirts and varsity jackets.
What makes the brand different is that there will be a fashion consultation room in-store that will allow shoppers to design and curate their outfits that “no one else in town will have.”
Price depends on the item and the level of customization and design, but Anderson told me that shoppers can expect t-shirts to hover around the $30 mark, sweatshirts to be between $59 and $79 and denim to land in the $80-$100 range. The brand’s varsity jacket line will be the most expensive, ranging from $200 to $250.

BAC is catered more to a style that says I’m “going out on the town and want to be fashion forward,” said Anderson.
The material used in BAC’s clothing is more premium, and the prices reflect it. Denim will start at $100 and the varsity jackets, with more leather, accents and details, will range from $275-$300. The line will be unveiled at the grand opening.
It’s not just about clothes for Anderson, it’s about bringing the community together through fashion and through bigger causes.
The cause Anderson has chosen to focus on is autism, as his co-founder’s son is autistic and is “just an awesome dude.”
They’ve chosen to partner with Autism Awareness, with whom they’ll curate or collaborate on a collection with. 10% of all profits that come from those projects will be donated to Autism Awareness and Research.
Just last week, they helped design a Maserati for the BTEP Kids Charity, which benefits autism research.
Anderson is aiming for an opening within the next month.
Until then, look for the store’s upcoming shoe release, for which they paired with Fila and are only selling 100 pairs.
