The Turnhouse Grille is officially open in the space formally occupied by Tiki Hideaway.

Owners Andy Pressley and John Cates have been friends (and in the restaurant business) for years and are pumped to bring this grille to the Montford Park neighborhood.

Guests are encouraged to come just as they are for high quality food at good prices served in a relaxing, at-home atmosphere.

“Anyone is welcome,” said Pressley.

And he means it. They’ve got something for everyone, from a shrimp burger with cole slaw and cocktail sauce (it’s delicious) to seasonal house salads to buffalo and barbecue wings.

The beverage menu includes an extensive wine list, cocktails (with fun names like The Booty Loop), and craft beer.

Televisions are located inside and out for your football viewing pleasure.

Aeisha Davis and Laura Esparza, graduates of Johnson & Wales University, are running the show in the kitchen. Look out for great stuff from these talented chefs.

Pressley, Cates, and the team are super focused on being exactly what you’re looking for in a local hangout. They’re closed during the week for lunch but offer catering and events options for corporate outings. On the flip side, they’re open later on the weekends for the nighttime crowd (and yes, the kitchen stays open late, too. Score.)

“It’s not a restaurant. It’s not a bar. It’s a grille,” said Pressley, putting emphasis on their slogan: “Classic. Comfort. Cuisine.”

Pressley comes from a long history of working restaurants, including the late Nikkio’s Rodeo, South End Brewery (before breweries were a thing), and Cotton Street Diner. He then went into real estate and helped develop Atherton Mills and, basically, South End. He’s a partner at MECA Real Estate Services, where he does development, commercial brokerage and listings.

The Turnhouse Grille is open 4 p.m. to 11 pm. Tuesday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight-ish on Friday, and noon to midnight-ish Saturday and Sunday. The grille is closed Monday for private parties and wine tastings.
