The crown of Charlotte’s tallest building will soon be brighter.
Bank of America is replacing the lighting atop the Corporate Center, which stands 60 stories above Trade and Tryon.
“It will be noticeably brighter,” says Jennifer Darwin, a spokeswoman for the bank.
Why? The old lights are aging.
The 350-light system dates back 25 years to when the building was first constructed. The new LED lights will run more efficiently as well.
The new lights will be able to change colors.
But don’t expect displays like at the Duke Energy Center. The Bank of America Corporate Center lights will be white most of the time, with limited exceptions.
The upgrade should be complete by the end of the year.
