Lowe’s Physical Experience Designer helps develop and deliver the physical components of brilliant customer experiences. Grounded in the tools and methods of service design, you will contribute to the distilling and synthesizing customer insights into meaningful artifacts that offer up a truly integrated, omni-channel experience. The work will involve supporting the design of layouts, displays, display furniture, endcaps, lighting, kiosks, POS, signage, wayfinding, and more. You will work collaboratively with other disciplines within Customer Experience Design (CXD: Design Research, Human Experience Design, Digital Experience Design and Business Design) as well as our key project stakeholders, to deliver on Lowe’s purpose: “to help people love where they live”.
Successful design concepts will elevate the overall quality of the in-store experience, while meeting cost, schedule, and operational requirements. Acting as a liaison to development partners, the Physical Experience Designer ensures coherence between what is conceived and what is executed. You should be able to articulate clear design intents and help produce experiences that are desirable, viable and feasible. Designs will need to be sympathetic to, and in harmony with, digital and human experience designs to provide both customers and associates with the fully appointed stage upon which seamless services can be experienced.
To accomplish this, the Physical Experience Designer should have experience with: 1. service design, as well as interior, merchandising or exhibit design; 2. executing people-centered design methodologies; 3. working within multi-disciplinary creative teams. Additionally he/she must have the ability to navigate complex design programs and foster strong collaboration and co-creation across the organization.
The Physical Experience Designer works closely with other functions within Customer Experience Design, as well as with Merchandising, Marketing and Communications (MAC), Multi-Channel Testing and Commercialization (MCTC), Store Operations, Measure & Evaluate (M&E), Market and Consumer Insights (M&CI), and external vendors in order to develop effective design intent and realize final results.
This position will have impact on profitability, competitive advantage, and customer advocacy and loyalty through differentiated, innovative services and customer experiences.
