The second installment in Peter Thomas’s Charlotte nightlife portfolio opened last month at the Music Factory.
The husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey is showing a clear pull towards the Queen City, opening Sports One Bar and Lounge on N. College Street in 2014 and now unveiling the much larger 8,300-square-foot Club One.
The club has a prime location near the fountain in what I’d refer to as the Music Factory’s “main entrance.”
It’s in the old Butter location for those of you who have been around long enough to remember that nightclub, which closed in 2012. Club One will even hosting “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” themed hip hop nights, a play on the old club’s name, every Tuesday starting tomorrow.
Thomas’s famous friends came out to support the grand opening of Club One on April 14.
Fellow RHOA husband Todd Tucker cohosted the event and Faith Evans gave a special performance.
But according to BravoTV it’s unclear whether or not his wife Cynthia Bailey attended.
The model and founder of the Bailey Agency School of Fashion has been open about the stress Thomas’s work in Charlotte has put on their marriage. “I don’t love the fact that Peter’s getting an apartment in Charlotte,” she said in an interview on RHOA. “That makes this a long-distance marriage and that has an expiration.”
Only time (and another season of RHOA) will tell.
Thomas’s original Atlanta-based barONE location closed in 2014 in a firestorm of accusations and eviction notices served by the landlord who claimed the bar owed $100,000 in back rent, utilities and taxes.
That Atlanta location has been promising a reopening since January 2015 but with Thomas shifting his focus to Charlotte, that seems unlikely.
In an episode of RHOA, Thomas said he’d be spending 20 days out of the month in Charlotte. So for now, it certainly looks like Club One and Sports One are the priorty.
