Ted asked me the other day where I usually walk from my apartment if I don’t drive and I shut him down by telling him that I’m a driver through and through. His reaction? I could walk everywhere. And he’s right.
If you live in South End, you have everything you could possibly need within walking distance (less than a 30-minute walk and under two miles). It’s true – South End has a walk score of 77 and a bike score of 75.
Need proof? Fine. Here are more than 20 places you can get to without the help of your car.
To make it fair, we’ll have the starting point at that weird four way stop where South Tryon runs between West Summit and Camden Road (1501 South Tryon, to be exact). This intersection feels like the middle ground of the apartment boom.
(And keep in mind, these are only a handful of the places you can walk to.)
