Every neighborhood in Charlotte has a very distinct feel to it. But I think we can all agree that NoDa is known for its artsy vibe. It is hands down the most creative neighborhood in Charlotte – and we love NoDa for being NoDa. Over the next few years NoDa is going to undergo a lot of development – and local artists Matt Hooker and Matt Moore have teamed up with Joe’s Doughs to make sure that NoDa doesn’t lose its funk.
So what’s the deal? Joe’s Doughs sits right at the entrance to the NoDa neighborhood, and they have a giant 840 square foot wall that’s totally blank. But they’re donating it to let local artists get creative. The mural will serve as a sign welcoming people to NoDa – but other than that, the artists have free reign to do whatever they please.
The wall will be divided up into four sections, two of which will be painted by Matt Hooker and Matt Moore (the other two artists are TBD). Matt and Matt are (in my opinion) some of the most impressive artists in town. They’ve done work on The Local, 5Church, and NoDa Company Store to name a few.
They need your help to get the wall finished and they’ve just launched an Indiegogo campaign to get the ball rolling. And to sweeten the deal – Joe’s Doughs is offering up perks like a private donut party, custom flavors, and a year of donuts.
If you’ve got a soft spot for the arts, or a taste for donuts – a small part of your paycheck will be well served here.
