Charlotte Jazz Festival is coming April 21-23: Scope out the (incredible) lineup
Jazz lovers, brace yourselves – the Charlotte Jazz Festival is coming and the lineup will have you blocking off the entire weekend. From intimate lounge events with signature cocktails to a traditional second line parade, the events vary in location and vibe but there’s one thing that’s consistent throughout – the very best jazz.
A few highlights:
- Friday Night Jazz Bakery. Celebrate the weekend with decadent desserts and tunes: Riley Mulherkar and Patrick Bartley with the Sammy Miller Quintet will be playing a program called “Dizzy & Bird.” Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture, Friday, April 22 at 9:30 p.m. Theater seating tickets start at $12.50.
- Saturday’s Creole Jazz Brunch. Enjoy a slow, smooth Saturday morning with the Ocie Davis Quartet, and be transported straight to the French Quarter with an authentic Creole brunch (+ Bloody Mary bar). Wells Fargo Atrium, Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m. Theater seating tickets start at $19.50.
- Free Fun on the Plaza at Levine Center for the Arts. There’s free live music from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, but to us the real highlight is the New Orleans style Second Line Parade leaving from the Plaza at 4:30 p.m.
- Music of the Masters: Duke Ellington and George Gershwin performed by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, led by THE Wynton Marsalis. Knight Theater, Saturday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $20.
