Sports Tank at the NASCAR Hall of Fame: The “Shark Tank” of sports-specific start-ups. Ten companies will pitch their ideas to a group of five investors. $30 – ticketsFriday, 4/1 at 4 p.m.

Lucky Dog Bark & Brew opening weekend: Festivities throughout the weekend include facility tours, food trucks, music, drink specials, giveaways and more. Friday, 4/1 through Sunday, 4/3

NoDa Farmers Market Spring FestThe market moves back outside to the corner of 36th and Alexander. Approximately 15 vendors will be onsite selling veggies, fruit, meat, dairy and coffee from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, 4/2

Beach Week kick off party at Tabor: Capitol kicks off their Beach Week at Tabor this weekend. Shop in the Flaherty rig, which will be set up in their parking lot and enjoy live music from the Leadville Social Club beginning at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, 4/2

International Pillow Fight at The Unknown Brewing Co.: Bring your pillow and prepare to battle at 6 p.m. There will be live music and Unknown craft beer too. Free – register here. Saturday 4/2

Order/Fire 4: Special NC Craft Beer episode: Charlotte’s original culinary video web series Order/Fire premiers it’s fourth episode at Free Range Brewing. Happy hour kicks off at 1 p.m., screening begins at 2 p.m., pig pickin’ to follow the screening. $10 donation to Farm Hands suggested. Sunday, 4/3

Bilingual Stories and Music at the Mint Museum Randolph: An interactive, bilingual event featuring music, plays and stories geared towards families with children 0-6 years old from 11 a.m. to noon. Saturday, 4/2


Charlotte Brain Tumor Race at Romare Bearden Park: Support the National Brain Tumor Society by participating in the survivor walk (8 a.m.), 10K (8:15 a.m.) or 5K (8:30 a.m.). Races will be followed by an award ceremony. Saturday, 4/2

Handstand Workshop at Y2 Yoga: Rian Harris will lead this workshop to help you build the foundation for a strong headstand from 1:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. $40 – register.


Basketball: The Hornets host the Philadelphia 76ers at Time Warner Cable Arena on Friday at 7 p.m. Tickets.

Hockey: The Checkers face the Texas Stars in back-to-back games. Friday at 7 p.m. (tickets) and Saturday at 7 p.m. (tickets).

Roller Derby: Charlotte Roller Girls double header on Saturday at the Grady Cole Center (tickets). The All Star team takes on DC at 5 p.m. and the B-Dazzlers face the Piedmont Riot at 6:30 p.m.

Soccer: Charlotte Independence hosts the Harrisburg City Islanders on Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets.

Rugby: The National Small College Rugby Organization Regional Championship takes place at the Rugby Athletic Center on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $10 for one day or $15 for the weekend – available at the gate.
