PayPal is bringing a global operations center to Charlotte, which comes with 400 jobs.
Gov. Pat McCrory made the announcement Friday afternoon at the Charlotte Chamber. “North Carolina is on fire in creating jobs, and Charlotte is leading the way,” he said.
Lots of elected officials on hand.
If you get hired there, this guy will be your boss.
Senior Vice President John McCabe. He lives in San Jose but has a house on Lake Norman. He has a banking background and used to work at Wachovia.
Jobs include software engineering, risk management, fraud protection, compliance and operations.
Also known as hot job titles in the banking sector here already. “That’s why we’re here,” McCabe told me.
This is PayPal’s 11th operations center. The closest ones are in suburban Baltimore and Omaha.
Total payroll at the Charlotte location will be about $20 million. That means the average wage will be about $50,000 but pay will vary by position.
The center is leasing space near I-85 and W.T. Harris Boulevard.
Specifically in Louis Rose Place. This is where Red Ventures just announced they were leasing a bunch more space. Hot area.
PayPal is looking to take over in summer, start training in September and be fully operational by October. Total investment: $3.6 million.
