Over the last few months, people have noticed a monster structure being built and integrated into the Packard Place building.

Now that work is full steam ahead we finally have our first insight into the place. It’s going to be a new concept from The Bottle Cap Group (the folks behind All American Pub, Whiskey Warehouse, Brazwells, etc) called Ink ‘n Ivy. They’ll also be opening a second Ink ‘n Ivy soon in Greenville, S.C.

The food

Going for a higher-end food concept, they look to focus on good food and quality cocktails and be more than a quick serve drink and food bar. The menu will consist of a raw bar, steaks, chicken and biscuits and more, focusing on having a little something for everyone.

This really is a great opportunity to provide Third Ward with a bit of everything: full service restaurant, incredible patio, great cocktails and a great atmosphere.

Let’s now look at the real game changer here: The patio.

Spanning a massive 8,000 square feet, the only description that does it justice is monstrous. It is enormous and will have different vibes spread out across the entire space. Part of it will have a lounge feel and should really help bring more outdoor life into Third Ward.

Execution will be so crucial for making this place a stand-out location in Charlotte rather than more of the same. Yes, the patio will absolutely contribute to massive popularity but everything else has to fall in line as well. My expectations are extremely high given the promise of the location opportunity. Thus far everything has a great feel and the team has sold me on delivering what Charlotte deserves.

Currently people can see a “bro-tat” Ed Hardy looking design on the patio, but I have been assured the final product will look great and to trust the designs, which thus far I do.

I can’t wait to see the final product and we will provide you with more coverage as they near opening.

Note: They are having a job fair at Slate today, March 14 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.. They are hiring for all positions. Stop by if you’re interested.
