The city of Charlotte is about to make North Tryon Street look a little nicer.
Think trees planted along the side of the road, new sidewalk, planted medians, landscaping, decorative lighting, shared driveways, bike lanes, a nicer pedestrian experience, etc. It will go from looking like this:
To something more like this.
The project will extend from Dalton Avenue to 30th Street.
It will also pick up part of Church Street. The cost is $13 million. A lot of that will be land acquisition. The city is condemning a lot of commercial land along the corridor to do its work.
Design is done.
The city is still negotiating with property owners on compensation. Look for movement soon.
