Sure, $1 Taco Tuesday is delicious and $4 Margaritas are refreshing.
But that’s not what makes Sabor Latin Street Grill an example of what the future of Charlotte can and should look like.
Sure, founder Dalton Espaillat’s story is incredible.
You have to respect how he’s taken the craving for the Latin street food that he grew up with and turned it into four restaurants all over Charlotte (and growing). Yes, we need more owner/operators.
But that’s not what makes Sabor Latin Street Grill an example of what we hope to see in our neighbors.
Sure, the nachos are arguably the best in the city (although Duckworth’s may have something to say about this claim).
But that’s not what makes Sabor Latin Street Grill different.
It’s the fact that when you go there, you see EVERYBODY.
White people. Black people. Hispanic people. Rich people. Middle class people. Poor people. Frat dudes. Co-worker happy hour people. Protective moms. Doctors. Band members. Partiers pounding margaritas before a night out. Parents pounding a Sabor Especial burrito before their baby melts down.
Sabor Latin Street Grill is what a neighborhood hangout should look like. And it’s freaking beautiful.
How has Dalton been able to pull this off? Is it the location? The food? The drinks? The interior? The salsa bar? 🙂
No clue. I can’t explain it. All I know is that our city needs more spaces like this.
