Ever since the lovely Janet Ward Black took the crown in 1980 the Miss North Carolina pageant has effectively shut its doors to our fair city and I do not think this is right.

While I admit I know absolutely nothing about pageants other than what can be seen in Miss Congeniality, I do know that there is a good chance that the ladies of the 704 are far more lovely than those in Raleigh (who have won 3 times since 1980).

Seriously. Raleigh is currently leading 3-0 in the past 25 years – think about how crazy that is.

The math backs up the fact that Mecklenburg County (10% of the state’s population) is a victim with only 5 wins in 74 pageants (6.756% of winners), while 5% of the winners have come from Fayetteville (2% of the state’s population).

It seems like there is only one thing left to do…Ted and Katie have to become judges for the Miss North Carolina pageant.

Author’s note: This is not a serious article at all. I know nothing about pageants. Please do not send any hate mail to me.
