Hygge coworking has taken over its next-door neighbor — the @809 coworking space.
That’s pronounced “hoo-guh.” Both are at 809 West Hill Street right behind Bank of America Stadium in Third Ward. Hygge is led by Garrett Tichy and Kayla Duggar, who also run Ready at 7 marketing.

The acquisition brings the Hygge square footage from 3,500 to 9,000 and brings the number of private offices from three to 17. It will also allow Hygge to bring on new members (they had tapped out of space in the existing location).
The 809 space will be rearranged with new types of furniture and an emphasis on creating “nooks” for people to work. Hygge has also put $4,600 in strengthening the Wi-Fi and $3,300 on a sophisticated lock/entry system.
Contractors literally cut a passage between the two spaces to connect them.
Hygge might end up putting some lockers in this little space that members can rent to store things like laptop, etc. when they go out for a bit. Great idea. While coworking, I usually stuck stuff in the trunk of my car.
They’re taking over from Seismic Partners. The 809 name will be going away, and the yellow-tinged decor of Hygge will be part of the new space.

What’s next?
Hygge is in talks to take over a 3,000-ish square foot portion of Recommunity, the recycling company in the same building. There’s already a door connecting the two spaces.
