Good news: Your Uber or Lyft ride to Charlotte Douglas International Airport is now totally legit and you won’t have to worry about security.
Bad news: You might have to pay an extra buck for it.
The Charlotte airport has formally signed deals with both Uber and Lyft to give them access to pick up and drop off customers at the airport.
Both services had been operating under the radar there before, which made a lot of people mad because the airport has formal and exclusive contracts with taxi companies to work there.
The deals are also coming at a time with Charlotte is trying to figure out what control it can have over Uber and Lyft.

As part of the Lyft contract, provided to the Agenda, the airport is charing $1 per trip — pick-up and drop-off. Both Uber and Lyft have said said they will pass along the surcharge to riders.
The airport is also requiring a lot of record keeping stuff like a monthly PDF of all of its trips to the airport. They also are requiring cars to display an official decal visible from up to 50 feet.
The designated drop-off and pick-up location is at Concourse D.
Uber says they’ll meet you curbside.
