Assistant Director
The Atlantic Coast National Electrical Contractors Association (ACC NECA) Chapter was chartered in 1997 following a merger between the Virginia and Carolinas Chapters of NECA. The Chapter is in strong financial position, has over thirty-member contractors, and covers nine (9) local unions, which include Local Union(s): #80 (Norfolk), #238 (Asheville), #342 (Greensboro), #379 (Charlotte) #495 (Wilmington), #553 (Raleigh/Durham), #666 (Richmond), #776 (Charleston), and #1340 (Newport News). The Association’s mission is to provide exceptional service and value to our members, to attract, develop and retain the best talent, and to collaborate and foster relationships with stakeholders for the advancement of the electrical construction industry.
Overview:
The Assistant Director will report directly to the Executive Director and will assist in the management of the Chapter. This includes but is not limited to responsibilities associated with labor relations, JATC committees, health & welfare trusts, pension trusts, membership development, recruitment, and communications. This position provides a unique, fulfilling and rewarding opportunity for a self- motivated, relationship oriented, and learning driven individual. The position will be fully remote with residency being North Carolina. However, the position will involve frequent travel within the jurisdiction of the Chapter and regular travel to other parts of the U.S. for meetings and conferences.
Responsibilities:
• Industry liaison between management & labor in six (6) local unions in North & South Carolina
• Assist in negotiations of collective bargaining agreements across six (6) Local Unions in the Carolinas
• Assist in grievance and dispute resolutions between management & labor in the Carolinas
• Attend various meetings as a representative of the Chapter which includes but is not limited to: Board of Directors Meetings, Division Meetings, NECA national/regionals/local meetings and conferences, ACC NECA Annual General Membership meeting, National Training Institute (NTI), International Foundation of Employee Benefits Conference etc.
• Generate minutes, agendas, statistics, data, and other relevant industry information as needed
• Sit as a trustee on the Carolinas Electrical Workers Retirement Fund & on the Southern Electrical Retirement Fund
• Sit as a trustee on various JATC committees in the Carolinas
• Trustee on Carolinas Labor Management Cooperation Committee Trust
• Collaborate with industry association peers, vendors, governmental bodies, interested stakeholders, and other industry related entities
• Remain current on national, regional, and local trends and issues impacting the Carolinas Electrical construction industry
• Assist in the planning and coordination of any events held by the Chapter
• Assist with social media strategy, marketing, and organization’s external visibility
• Support the Executive Director on any member services or chapter initiatives
Qualifications and requirements:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Excel required; ability to learn new technology as required
• Bachelor’s degree in business or a degree in a related field or relevant industry experience
• Willingness to travel for events, meetings, conferences etc. including overnight trips
• Ability to quickly establish rapport, trust, and credibility to foster positive relationships with a diverse group of people
• Polished communication skills, both written and verbal, and thoroughly tested intrapersonal skills
• Self-starter who has an exceptional work ethic and is highly motivated
