Director of Annual Giving and Engagement
Overview:
The Director of Annual Giving and Engagement is responsible for developing, planning, and implementing a comprehensive constituent engagement and giving program that will increase community engagement and financial support of Gaston Day School. The Director of Annual Giving and Engagement reports to the Head of School and is a full-time, exempt employee.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Plan and implement the school’s annual giving and constituent engagement programs
• Develop annual giving strategies for current and past families, Board members, grandparents, community members, and alumni
• Develop coordinated communication and solicitation strategies involving email, direct mail, phone, face-to-face visits, and fundraising volunteers
• Develop and execute constituent activities that expand the number and range of constituents who have personal involvement with the School
• In partnership with the Director of Marketing and Communications, coordinate a cohesive annual communication effort to increase engagement and annual gifts
• Work with the Development Coordinator to ensure accurate constituent information collection in the database for gift entry and records management
• Help to identify potential major gift prospects through database analysis and donor engagement
• Prepare regular fundraising reports including, but not limited to, weekly, monthly, annual, and Board reports
• Develop the annual budget for giving and engagement activities
• Regularly evaluate and administer strategies, prospecting, segmenting, and stewardship
• Promote and foster effective alumni and parent relations through written communication and personal contact with constituent groups
Experience and education:
• A bachelor’s degree is required
• Five to seven years of relevant philanthropy and engagement experience, preferably within an educational environment
• Proven experience in gift analysis, reporting, and project management
• Proven experience in relevant donor software databases
• Proven experience with volunteer engagement and management
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Knowledge of development and advancement concepts, methods, and procedures as related to a school environment
• Ability to make decisions independently and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
• Willingness and excitement for working with donors to give philanthropically to Gaston Day School
• Ability to assess donor data and segment appropriately
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with a broad range of constituencies, including teammates, faculty, staff, administration, trustees, parents, students, and alumni
• Organization skills and attention to detail
• Skills in writing, proofreading, and editing
• Knowledge of PC, Mac, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) in addition to Google for Education applications
• Ability to learn and implement new technologies quickly and as required
• A collaborative spirit and strong work ethic
