Director of Operations & Facilities
Job summary:
The Operations and Facilities Director is responsible for comprehensive oversight of all functions of the Museum and facility operations. The Operations and Facilities Director maintains all aspects of the physical buildings and grounds of the Sullenberger Aviation Museum, in terms of cleanliness, safety, security, and space management. The Operations and Facilities Director supports all museum departments. This position serves as the primary contact between the museum and the airport. This position requires both strategic and tactical planning and daily operational support.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Directly responsible for oversight of all building operations, systems, upkeep & maintenance. Oversees and ensures operations of BAS (Building Automated Systems), electronic interactives, displays, and multimedia presentations
• Maintains/Oversees general operations of the facility and all operational systems including opening and closing facility, working with the Visitor Services Manager to provide a schedule of Manager on Duty, IT, security and safety systems, building systems, lighting systems, operating a scissor lift, etc.
• Conducts regular walk-through of the facility to provide visual maintenance and security oversight and response
• Plans and communicates operational briefing details, project schedules, monthly calendars, and communicates status updates to the SAM team
• Ensure museum grounds are safe, clean and maintained daily
• Adheres to the museum’s collections policies and procedures
• Supports the installation of exhibits and displays
• Responsible for communicating the operational efficiency of building systems for the protection and preservation of the museum’s collection
• Emergency management planning in coordination with the Leadership Team – responsible for ongoing implementation and assessment
• Oversees events facilities setup and breakdown
• Manages for onsite team communications and systems (i.e., radios)
• Responsible for incident management, reporting/documentation, and relevant training (possible first responder capabilities)
• Manages mail, keys including key audit, and airport badging and reporting
• Maintains the operations of the facility on weekdays, evenings, and weekends, locally and remotely. Maintains phone system messages
• Responsible for identifying areas of repair or logistical weaknesses regarding the facility
• Supervises all vendor contracts associated with structure maintenance and operations including janitorial, fire detection, fire protection, HVAC, security, audio/visual, electrical, pest control, and mechanical
• Serves as primary liaison for CLT and airport operations
Supervisory responsibilities:
The Operations and Facilities Director is responsible for scheduling, training, providing orientation, supervising, and evaluating facilities staff.
Qualifications:
• Associate degree in related field (engineering, construction or property management, etc.) required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 5 years of relevant experience involving operation and maintenance of industrial and/or commercial facilities required
• 3 years experience managing facility staff preferred
• Must have experience with building systems and mechanical systems, HVAC, and Computer Systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Current driver’s license
