Pizza Baby quietly opened its dining room on Thrift Road Tuesday night.
This is the restaurant’s soft opening. A grand opening will follow, with the time and date TBD.
Context: It’s from the same team, Art and Commerce Food Group, behind Flour Shop in Park Road Shopping Center, which ranks No. 12 on our list of best restaurants.
- Pizza Baby is the third restaurant for chef Trey Wilson.
Why it matters: A growing number of local businesses are expanding into or opening their first locations in Wesley Height’s Thrift Road.
Menu: There are five 18-inch, New York-style pizzas; sandwiches; starters like burrata, meatballs, and prosciutto and melon; plus soft-serve ice cream. Expect signature cocktails like el diablo (El Jimador blanco, Chambord raspberry liqueur, ginger beer, fresh sour and Hellfire bitters on the rocks), classic cocktails, wine and local beer.
Details: Pizza Baby has an open kitchen in the back where you can see your pizza being made. The restaurant seats 72 in the dining room and eight at the bar. Outdoor seating will be added eventually.
- Pizza Baby is open for dinner only Tuesday-Sunday starting at 5pm. Lunch will be available Friday-Sunday in the future.
- It’s located at 2135 Thrift Road next to the Coterie and Midnight Mulligan.
What’s next: Pizza Baby location will open a second location in Elizabeth at 1603 Elizabeth Ave., next to Customshop (No. 1 on our best restaurants list) and the People’s Market, on Jan. 1, 2024.
- Art and Commerce Food Group also plans to add a sandwich shop called Panino Bambino, which the owners tell Axios is in the early stages of development, with a TBD location and timeline.
- The sandwiches will be made using their in-house baked bread and will be available at both Pizza Baby locations before it becomes a standalone shop.
