With a focus on improving educational equity and promoting a more just society, Helps Education Fund provides evidence-based programs and services that are free or low-cost and meaningfully advance student outcomes from birth through adulthood. With support from the Charlotte team, the Tutor will play a critical role in delivering in-person, small group literacy tutoring within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Tutors will work either during daytime or after school hours. Tutors will work an average of 16 – 20 hours weekly.
The primary tasks of the Tutor will include:
• Serve as Helps Education Fund’s representative with school communities
• Provide pre-planned, small group literacy tutoring sessions
• Manage relationships between school staff and Helps Education Fund
• Build rapport with students while following a research-based lesson plan very closely
• Collaborate with school-based and Helps Education Fund colleagues to support student progress
• Communicate clearly with students, their school-based support systems, and your colleagues
• Record data to document student progress – familiarity with Google Sheets is a plus

• A high school graduate at least 18 years of age
Pay and benefits:
Compensation for this in-person position begins at $20.00 per hour. This position does not qualify for benefits.
This in-person role will work on-site in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools with support from our Charlotte-based Helps Education Fund team. During the semester, tutors will complete approximately 16-20 hours of work weekly.
