The Loyalist Market is a cut-to-order cheese and charcuterie shop in historic Downtown Matthews, NC, highlighting local artisanal producers, farmers, wineries, and breweries. We are passionate food lovers interested in elevating our local community through memorable food experiences. Offering a truly fun, laid back work environment, we hope you’ll join us on our journey to share great food and drink made by artisans that care about their animals, their land, and their people. We are looking for an experienced, passionate, friendly, cheese-loving individual to lead our restaurant and cheese shop, and create a fun eating and learning experience with our guests.

Note:
Must have relevant food service experience
Qualifications:
• Experience in food preparation and managing FOH and BOH
• Passionate about food and an authentic willingness to learn and teach
• An overall good human being that has values and knows how to treat people with respect
• Experience in specialty food sales, cheese/charcuterie, customer service, and food prep is a plus
• Creative, artistic individual that can make informed decisions based off of customer needs
• Attention to detail and someone that takes pride in their work
• Be a great storyteller (extroverts will excel in this position)
• Understands the balance of being professional and having fun (we are the complete opposite of pretentious, but we want to make sure our guests to receive an amazing experience)
• Proficient in FIFO concept and managing inventory
• ServSafe certification REQUIRED
• Friday/Saturday availability
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance, and be able to use personal vehicle as needed for shopping, etc.
Responsibilities – Majority of responsibilities will be in the FOH, including but not limited to the following:
• Manage a team of 24 employees both FOH and BOH
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment following guidelines set by company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances
• 100% customer-facing – be the first to greet all guests when they walk in the door ready to offer the best customer experience
• Requires an energetic, personable individual that can communicate aspects of cheese, beer, wine, etc.
• Responsible for all shopping, specialty/wine/beer ordering, and maintaining inventory
• Responsible for all interviews
• Cut and wrap cheese and charcuterie in a visually pleasing way and to maintain freshness
• Ability to create cheese boards, small plates, salads and sandwiches
• Maintain clean and compelling merchandising displays
• Manage food costs
• Ring up purchases at point-of-sale
• Assist in washing dishes, cooking utensils, bar glasses, and silverware
• Ensuring proper opening and closing duties of employees’ work stations and facility
