Production Manager
General function:
Performs marketing production functions to help control and enhance Central Piedmont’s brand. Procures commercial printing, direct mail services, and imprinted promotional products. Meets with vendors to review capabilities to ensure best fit for the college. Works closely with vendor partners during quoting, production, and invoicing. Ensures quality assurance of all printed and imprinted materials and some large format installations. Develops timelines for print orders as needed. Works with Communications, Marketing & Public Relations (CMPR) account executives in planning and budgeting of print projects. Manages quoting workflow within CMPR. Follows college and state procurement guidelines and consults with procurement staff as needed. Coordinates with Campus Printing and Signs department and various vendors to complete orders on time, per specifications. Coordinates with shipping & receiving staff as needed regarding deliverables.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Consults with CMPR account executives to anticipate and determine marketing production needs
• Serves as liaison between printing companies and CMPR’s design staff during pre-press workflow
• Coordinates with vendors/suppliers to ensure deliverable deadlines and quality standards are met
• Routes proofs and printed samples through department for Q/A review and approval
• Serves as liaison between CMPR and Academic Affairs staff for college catalog proofreading and photos as needed
• Performs graphic design as needed
• Ensures college’s brand standards are maintained
• Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum requirements and qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or related field and multiple years of progressive experience in graphic design and/or print production management; an equivalent combination of training and experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in print production management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously meeting all deadlines, while providing good customer service.
Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics:
• Demonstrated expertise in graphic design, print production, and project management
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency with electronic media and computer systems
• Ability to represent the College to vendors and negotiate in the best interest of the College
