Communications and Marketing Associate
Overview:
Rock Hill Schools is looking for an enthusiastic content creator to join the Communications and Marketing team and help tell the story of our school district. This creative, fast-paced team produces district messaging, events, branding and videos.
We’re looking for a communications or marketing creative professional who can see the bigger picture, loves teamwork and can write to tight deadlines.
Duties include:
• Works closely with the marketing team to develop marketing strategies
• Maintains the district’s usual style guide and branding protocols
• Exercises independent judgment in writing news and feature content for district publications, releases, videos, social media posts, and other communications as necessary
• Assists school and district partners in editing and publishing internal and external communications
• Delivers regular communication notices and messages for the department, and district
• Coordinates with other district departments and schools to schedule and plan events
• Assists in shooting and editing photos and videos
• Facilitates content management on the district website
• Works directly with school liaisons to manage district social media accounts and other marketing efforts
• Provides tactical support for district-wide event operations
• Tracks communications and other measures to assist with the department’s continuous improvement efforts
• Provides support to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications
• Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree required
• Post-high school communication and marketing training preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, business, or marketing preferred
• Excellent communication skills with proven attention to writing, accuracy, and editing
• One or more years of social media experience, including planning and managing content in a professional setting, preferred
• Outstanding knowledge and use of electronic communication tools including social media, web, email, etc.
• Knowledge of Adobe products preferred
• Experience using complex content management systems
• Ability to shoot and edit video preferred
• Ability to recognize and manage confidential information in an efficient and effective manner
• Ability to work effectively with various public and staff
• Ability to operate standard office equipment and pertinent software applications
• Skilled in planning and multi-tasking
• Must be detail-oriented
• Must be well-organized and task-oriented
• Outstanding references from current and former supervisors
• Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report
