Kappo En, a new intimate Japanese tasting menu concept slated to open early fall. The dining room will feature a 10-seat counter overlooking a small kitchen serving an Omakase style menu featuring sushi and cooked items.
We are looking to hire a qualified individual with a background in fine dining to take the lead role as Service Captain. Captain will be the primary point of contact for guests throughout their reservation booking and dinner to ensure a pleasant and memorable dining experience. They will confirm food allergies and special requests, then communicate and coordinate with the culinary team to execute a smooth dinner service. During service the Captain will interact with the guests and guide them through their beverage selection which includes sake and wine. They will work with other members of the culinary team and service assistant throughout their meal to provide exceptional service to all guests.
Compensation will include base salary and share of service charge. Captain will also hold additional responsibility of helping select and build seasonal small curated beverage selections. They will handle beverage orders from vendors and help control inventory. Prior to each service Captain will be responsible for printing of daily menus to provide guests.
The job requires a four days work week with an average of 32-36 hours per week. The earning potential for this job is $80k-100k per year.

• Ability to multitask; and work at rapid pace when needed
• Must have good supervisory skills and able to delegate when appropriate
• Must have good communication skills and full understanding of menu to promote sales
• Must have strong wine and food knowledge and well versed in Japanese cuisine
• Need to be familiar with POS operations
• Must have intermediate computer skills to manage reservation system, basic editing of menus, and competent with Microsoft Office programs
• Availability to work on evenings and weekends
