The Store Manager at Southern Lion is a dynamic leadership role responsible for
overseeing all aspects of the high-end home decor business. Reporting to the General Manager, the Store Manager plays a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, exceptional customer experiences, and achieving sales and profitability targets. They are the key representatives of the company when the General Manager is not on shift.


Operational management
• Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and execute store strategies
• Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to company policies and procedures
• Take ownership of assigned tasks, including daily strategy paperwork, scheduling of team members, and managing new hire paperwork
• Maintain store organization, inventory management, and cleanliness, while providing directives to maintain a visually appealing environment
Customer satisfaction
• Act as an escalation point for customer satisfaction issues, ensuring prompt and satisfactory resolution
• Monitor sales team interactions with customers, providing feedback, coaching, and fostering outstanding customer service
Team leadership and development
• Lead and motivate the front-end team members, promoting a positive work environment and fostering a high-performance culture
• Conduct training sessions for new team members, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge
• Counsel and support the sales team on a daily basis, encouraging their professional growth and development
Financial management
• Ensure cash drawers are controlled and accurately account for all cash and credit card transactions
• Generate reconciliation reports, handle bank deposits, and prepare daily sales reports
• Conduct cash audits to maintain accuracy and compliance
• Collaborate with General Manager to drive sales, monitor profitability, and implement cost-efficient practices
Innovation and market awareness
• Stay informed about market trends, customer preferences, and industry developments
• Collaborate closely with the visual/display team to create visually appealing product displays and enhance the store’s offerings
• Encourage a culture of innovation, creativity, and adaptability within the store
Performance evaluation and metrics
• Establish clear performance indicators and metrics for the Store Manager role, including sales targets, customer satisfaction ratings, and operational efficiency measures
• Continuously evaluate performance against set targets and provide actionable feedback to drive improvement

• Proven experience as a Store Manager or similar leadership role. Retail or home decor industry is a tremendous plus
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Proficiency in cash register and barcode systems
• Demonstrated success in driving sales, achieving targets, and maintaining profitability a plus
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and market trends
• Passion for delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring customer satisfaction
• Strong business acumen and the ability to contribute to strategic decision- making
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial management and inventory control
• Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to support special events and peak business periods
