Always shop locally first
Habitat for Humanity ReStores sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials, and more at a fraction of retail price.
- You can shop or donate to six locations: Wendover, Wilkinson, Pineville, Cornelius, Mooresville and Statesville.
Even better: Browse the online store for the right sofa, vanity or plumbing fixtures, then purchase your items and pick them up at the Wendover ReStore.
The impact: From July 1 to Dec. 31 in 2022, the net profits from Habitat Charlotte Region’s ReStores were equivalent to constructing nearly 12 new homes.
In other words: Shopping within the local community is key to supporting the nonprofit’s affordable housing initiatives.
Reduce, reuse and recycle
Moving or redecorating? Purging for summer? Sunsetting an inventory of goods?
By reselling new and used donated items, Habitat Charlotte Region ReStores promote the reuse of materials to reduce waste and divert usable goods from landfills.
- So, consider donating your items instead of tossing them!
How it’s done: There are three ways to donate your useful belongings.
- Drop them off directly at any store location in the Charlotte Region.
- Schedule a free standard pickup from your home’s driveway or garage.
- Schedule a premium pickup (within 48 hours) for a fee.
Pro-tip: A premium pick-up is perfect for businesses donating large amounts of furniture and office equipment!
Give parts of your house away — and save hundreds
Here’s how: An alternative to traditional contractor removal is having the Habitat Charlotte Region ReStores carefully remove kitchen cabinets, appliances, countertops, vanities, fixtures, windows, doors and more before you begin remodeling.
And as long as you donate the items to any ReStore location to be resold, the deconstruction service is completely free!
- This helps fund more community work and keeps thousands of pounds of kitchen materials like wood, metal and stone out of landfills.
More info: Items removed from your home will be transported to a Charlotte Region ReStore the same day, which means no mess in your home, garage or front yard.
- Donors also receive a tax receipt for donated items, plus a tax acknowledgment for any monetary donations made to Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region to help keep deconstruction services at no cost.
