Paralegal / Legal Assistant
Overview:
Erin Patterson Law, PLLC is seeking a full time Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our busy boutique law firm located in the Dilworth neighborhood, just outside of Uptown Charlotte. The firm focuses solely on estate planning and estate administration, serving clients in both North and South Carolina.
Professional qualifications:
• College graduate
• 2+ years experience in estate planning, probate, and trust administration
• Experience supporting multiple attorneys and working directly with clients
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe and knowledge of or ability to learn legal software used by the firm
• Notary Public certification a plus but not required

Responsibilities:
• Effectively manage a robust caseload by prioritizing tasks, understanding the internal and external parties involved, and monitoring relevant deadlines
• Organize and maintain voluminous electronic client files and documents
• Draft probate and estate administration documents such as court filings and accountings for attorney review
• Draft estate planning documents for attorney review
• Assist attorneys in preparation for client conferences including reviewing intake information, financial data, client background and goals
• Attend client conferences with attorneys, take notes, and coordinate with administrative staff regarding cases
• Assist clients by answering questions and providing instructions on non-legal matters
• Prepare, review and deliver correspondence and documents to clients, government agencies, financial institutions, and other professional advisors
• Occasional travel to courthouse to file documents and review probate files
• Achieve clearly-communicated billable hour goal and properly capture time according to guidelines
