Extended Day- Assistant Teacher
Overview:
Charlotte Latin School is searching for an Assistant Teacher in our after-school program, Hawks Club. We are seeking Teachers to work with our Transitional Kindergarten- 5th grade after-school children. This is a ten-month, part-time position beginning in August 2023. Hours will vary based on need, but can range from a 12:30pm start until 6:00pm.
The main duties of the role will include:
• Assist lead teacher in creating monthly lesson plans and calendar for children in the after-school program
• Assist lead teacher in maintaining good classroom management
• Help set up activities and materials before each day’s program
• Assist with classroom arrangement and decor, including bulletin board design
• Assist in leading small group activities that are age appropriate in an atmosphere where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences enhancing the social, physical, and academic advancement of children in his/her care
• Leading, supervising, and providing structure and help with homework
• Organize, lead and participate in outdoor and indoor games while ensuring children’s safety and learning
• Walk students to and from various locations on campus
• Prepare and serve snacks to students
• Assist in classroom cleanup and maintenance after each age group and at the end of each school day
• Assist with carpool and bus duty
• Provide support, preparation and supervision of off campus excursions
• Serve as a positive role model for students
• Maintain professional communication with parents on a daily basis, in person and via email as needed
• Attend monthly staff meetings and professional development workshops during the academic year
• Work Additional hours during teacher workdays(approximately 15 days per school year. Hours will vary from the regular contracted hours and will be set in advance for appropriate planning)
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, preferred
• Previous experience working with school-age children required
• Safety procedures, First Aid and CPR are essential

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Office, Google Docs and Google Drive
