IT Telecommunications Analyst
Job summary:
This position is responsible for the design, implementation, testing and documentation of data network solutions. This position requires general knowledge of networking concepts – TCP/IP, routing, and switching. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can quickly learn new technologies and system applications with some guidance from senior personnel as well as work with small teams using Agile Principles
Responsibilities:
• Plan, design, test, implement and continue improvement of enterprise network solutions
• Configuration of Cisco Products, testing and implementation of new network hardware devices (routers and switches.) into the existing network infrastructure
• Maintain accurate diagrams and configurations for all network devices
• Prepare engineering job packages consisting of detailed parts / equipment lists, and appropriate documentation (drawings, network diagrams, configurations, etc.)
• Ensure life cycle cost effective design of systems with the goal of meeting business needs and providing a reliable and efficient service to the user
• Prepare and submit cost estimates for planned installations where required
• Maintain familiarity with current networking technologies at various facilities
• Procure, turn-up, and troubleshoot both private and public WAN circuits
• Work across the IT organization to provide end to end solutions to the customer
• Troubleshoot complexing routing designs, and LAN switching environments
Basic and required qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Field – Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
• In addition to required degree, minimum of 2 years of experience in Information Technology with the same number of years of design and support of Cisco Systems’ products
• In lieu of required degree, High School/GED and minimum 6 years relevant work experience
• Understanding of communication technology and Data Network fundamentals
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Information Technology with the same number of years of design and support of Cisco Systems’ products.
Desired qualifications:
• Cisco Certifications CCNA
• Experience with network hardware/software solutions: Cisco routers and switches, Cisco wireless controllers and APs
• Experience in the following technology areas: TCP/IP, Cisco IOS, Layer 3 Switching, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, Wireless 802.11 ABG
• Ability to work well within a team
• Effective verbal & written communication
• Experience in coordination with multiple groups, companies, and people simultaneously
• Demonstrated ability to work productively with some supervision
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks
• Strong interpersonal skills to support successful performance in a team environment
Working conditions:
Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility.
