Curriculum Coordinator

Overview:
Charlotte Montessori is currently looking to fill a vacancy as the Curriculum Coordinator. This staff member is critical to the daily runnings of our school and is primarily responsible for coaching, mentoring and partnering with teachers to uphold the Montessori curriculum within the classroom, and support the parent community in Montessori education through workshops and other support programs. We are looking for an experienced professional who is a team-player, organized, positive and who is able to hit the ground running.

Requirements for consideration:
• AMS Infant/Toddler Certification from a MACTE accredited program
• At least five years of successful teaching experience in an authentic Montessori classroom
• At least two years of full-time work as a School Administrator at a licensed childcare center or similar early childhood school
Preferred Additional Trainings (Candidates will be given preference who have):
• AMS Primary Certification from a MACTE accredited program Certification (in addition to infant/toddler)
• Positive Discipline Training and experience training teachers, parents and/or others in the approach

Overview of role and commitment to teaching staff:
The Curriculum Coordinator spends a large amount of time observing teachers, coaching/ mentoring new teachers and supporting teachers through the implementation of the philosophy. This work involves partnering with the teachers in supporting individual needs of the students. The Curriculum Coordinator is also looked upon to step into classrooms as needed for coverage and/or to support the teacher and/or model effective practice/presentation of lessons/etc…

Responsibilities:
Regular Support/Training/Coaching of teachers to include but not limited to:
• Consistent classroom observations in 13 classrooms (5 Primary and 8 Toddler) and regular feedback/coaching of teachers, both Lead and Assistants.
• Coach underperforming teachers and/or first-year teachers in philosophy/school culture
• Support Lead teachers in their training and/or understanding of material use through hands-on practice and/or Video presentation of lessons and materials for general teacher support
• Observe children and support teachers in articulating needs to families (speech, OT, PT, other)
• Generation of regular Montessori Communication/information provided in school communications and/or level communications
• Daily and summer classroom scheduling support
Regular support of teachers with a variety of written communication to include but not limited to (with the goal of ensuring/establishing consistency in teacher communication to families and in overall communication re: programming):
• Quarterly Conference Reports/Student Reports
• Classroom Newsletters/Brightwheel Posts/Other parent-communication

Commitment with Admin Team:
• Host new student evaluations and work with Admissions Coordinator in placing child/family at school
• Assist Director/Assistant Director with: Regular teacher check-ins, Teacher goals meetings and evaluations of teachers
• Attend regular teacher-team meetings as “admin representative” (shared responsibility) and report updates to admin team in a timely manner
• Provide teacher perspective to admin team in an effort to support needs proactively and as needed
• Attend and support school related functions as representative of school (New Parent Coffee Hour, Fall Picnic, Parent Workshops, Holiday Program, Peace Day, Morning of Montessori, Graduation)

Community related:
• Organization and presentation of Parent workshops throughout the school year (in collaboration with teacher-team)
• Organization and presentation of Positive Discipline Philosophy to teachers (for CEUs) and parents (6 week course) – certificate preferred, and required once joining team
• Overall Communication support through teacher-parent emails/otherwise and school-wide communication with parents
• Collaborate with Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist and/or other outside parties in child observations
• Facilitating tough conversations with parents regarding their children/parent-school partnership
