Coca-Cola Consolidated, the largest Coca-Cola bottler in the United States, is headquartered in Charlotte.
As a leader in the community, the company recognizes its responsibility to advance sustainability.
Here’s how: Coca-Cola Consolidated takes a three-pillared approach to promote industry-leading sustainability solutions and best practices:
- Package recycling.
- Climate protection.
- Water leadership.
The Package Recycling pillar includes partnering with communities and organizations to collect and recycle packaging materials.
- An example: Aspiring to make their primary packaging recyclable or renewably sourced.
The Climate Protection pillar includes converting waste to energy at their manufacturing facilities with technology that minimizes landfill usage.
- An example: Lightweight 12 oz. bottles and caps resulting in less material waste and fewer emissions.
The Water Leadership pillar includes implementing water efficiency measures at 100% of Coca-Cola Consolidated’s manufacturing facilities.
- An example: Enhancements to the production process that result in less water waste.
The proof: In April, Coca-Cola Consolidated partnered with Envision Charlotte to host “Clean the Queen,” a litter clean-up event to celebrate Earth Day.
- Over the course of five days, volunteers removed litter from the city’s streets, roadways and neighborhoods.
“As Charlotte’s local Coca-Cola bottler, we embrace our responsibility to protect our environment and improve the communities where we live and serve,” says Todd Marty, Senior Director of Sustainability at Coca-Cola Consolidated. “This is a worthy investment of time and treasure for a greener and cleaner Charlotte.”
The takeaway: Coca-Cola Consolidated’s sustainability efforts show how bottlers can protect our climate, water and recycling.
