Middle School Science Teacher
Overview:
Charlotte Latin School has an exciting opportunity for a Middle School Science teacher to begin in the 2023-2024 academic year. Latin is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and flexible teacher who is highly versed across a variety of integrated science disciplines. This position is ideal for motivated teachers with a particular passion for teaching middle school students. Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extra-curricular activities, advising, and/or coaching.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Teach four sections of Middle School science
• Serve as a Middle School advisor to 10-12 Middle School students
• Work collaboratively and effectively with peers in support of student achievement and curriculum development
• Perform other related duties, such as club advisor, recess supervisor, carpool, etc., as required and assigned by the Head of Middle School
Qualifications:
Education and experience
• Particular consideration will be given to applicants equally versatile in teaching science across levels and grades. Desirable candidates will display strong collegiality, a sincere interest in contributing to student life activities, and a philosophical alignment with our core values and curriculum
• Bachelors degree in Science, and/or Education Required. Masters or doctoral degree in science or associated STEM area highly preferred
• Experience teaching Middle School science preferred
• Experience teaching in an independent K-12 school preferred, preferably at the middle grades level
• Experience teaching a variety of science disciplines (integrated science curriculum) highly preferred.

• Proficiency in Google Suite
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge and experience in child development, educational practices, and culturally responsive teaching
