Accounting Manager

Covenant Presbyterian Church is seeking an experienced accounting manager for this full time position. Job summary:
Responsible for the church’s accounting functions including accounts payable, contributions and payroll. Assists the Church Administrator in the administrative matters of the church to support the church’s programming and mission as set forth by the ordained staff, session, and lay leadership of the church.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business and/or finance
• Good communication skills and ability to work well with people
• Ability to function in a busy environment with multiple interruptions
• Orientation to detail, computer proficiency a must
• Church management software experience a plus; ShelbyNext preferred
• Familiarity with typical Christian church program preferred
• Candidate should not be a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Assists Church Administrator in administering all facets of the financial & human resources functions of the church
• Oversees accounting processes including contributions, accounts payable, and journal entries to ensure accurate entry and posting
• Completes monthly financial statements and provides to Church Administrator and Treasurer
• Manages and processes payroll, Board of Pensions benefits plan enrollment and changes, and all payroll related documentation
• Enters all pledge information and maintains strict confidentiality of member pledge & contribution records
• Manages stock donations and acknowledgments
• Provides annual giving statements for all donations
• Completes bank reconciliations monthly and provides to Treasurer for review
• Forms effective working relationships & rapport with members and staff
• Prepares and provides essential support for annual external audit
