Creative Photographic Director
Overview:
The University is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Creative Photographic Director to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for developing and executing a creative vision for photography that aligns with the university’s overall branding and marketing goals. The ideal candidate must quickly understand University requirements and client briefs and translate them into elegant and image-focused creative solutions, often under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects. The “Creative Photographic Director” must have experience working with a diverse creative team on large-scale projects both with and without the guidance of the Director of Creative Services. Additionally, they should possess excellent communication skills and be able to pitch creative concepts to clients and University stakeholders, as well as develop ideas and concepts for various communication professionals.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a creative vision for photography that aligns with the university’s overall branding and marketing goals
• Lead additional photographers, including mentoring, providing feedback, and ensuring quality control
• Oversee all aspects of photoshoots, including location scouting, model casting, wardrobe selection, and lighting
• Review and edit photographs, ensuring they meet the standards of the company
• Manage budgets related to photography equipment, location rentals, and other related expenses
• Stay current with emerging trends in photography and technology, continuously researching new tools, techniques, and styles that can be incorporated into your creative vision
• Collaborate with other teams, including social media, marketing, creative, and design teams, to ensure that the photography aligns with the overall brand and marketing strategy
• Ensure that all photography adheres to legal requirements
• Shoot commercial level photography
Other work responsibilities:
• In addition to taking photographs, there are several job duties that this position may be responsible for, depending on workload
• Uploading images into the University MAM and ensuring content is properly organized and archived
• Editing and retouching photographs: After taking photographs, photographers may need to edit and retouch them using software such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom. This may involve adjusting colors, removing blemishes, and cropping images
• Managing equipment: The position needs to be familiar with and responsible for their equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, and other accessories
• Meeting with clients: Photographers may need to meet with clients to discuss their needs and preferences, as well as to provide advice on locations, clothing choices, and other aspects of a photoshoot
• Collaborating with other professionals: Depending on the type of photography required, photographers may need to collaborate with other professionals such as stylists, makeup artists, or models
