The massage studio Mood House will open a second location in a 3,000-square-foot space in Oakhurst Commons, a former office complex that’s being turned into a mixed-use campus at 4000 Monroe Road.

They’re targeting a winter 2023/2024 opening.

Why it matters: Mood House, which has been called the “Soul Cycle of massage,” surged in popularity since opening two years ago in Dilworth. Mood House founder (and Axios Charlotte’s former president) Cristina Wilson has said she aims to provide customers with a reimagined spa experience.

Details: Mood House Oakhurst will offer massage and infrared sauna services, and it’ll have a private patio for clients to unwind with tea after each service.

  • Mood House offers varying membership levels to its customers that lets them either book a massage or gift it. Members get other perks including early booking.
  • Each of the studio’s cabana-inspired massage suites is designed to feel like a getaway experience.

Of note: Also opening at Oakhurst Commons is Pop the Top, a craft beer shop that’s expanding from South End this summer.

What they’re saying: “The demand for self-care is higher than ever – our team proudly provides mindful wellness for more than 700 monthly members in Dilworth, and we can’t wait to grow,” Wilson said in a statement from MDH Partners and Parkside Partners, the joint venture that owns Oakhurst Commons.

Here’s a look at what the new studio will look like. Renderings are courtesy of Southwick Architecture + Interiors.

Editor’s note: Cristina Wilson was previously a partner and president of the Axios Charlotte and Agenda founder Ted Williams has invested in Mood House.
